Five prototypes
Four drawings — callout, exploded axonometric, shadow study, cyanotype — and three marks — tick and name, match line, break line. No section numbers anywhere; figure captions unchanged. One prototype per page type, so every drawing and every mark is exercised against live content at least once.
- p1
Home
Four audiences, each composed at a different scale. The gold appears four times and never as a field.
- p6
Noir Botanical
Evergreen, cream and copper. Split hero: schematic left, evidence plate right.
- p7
Meridian Broadsheet
A daylight broadsheet — warm paper, ink-black rules, one teal signal per column.
- p9
Out-turn Signal
Cost, programme and site in one live record, so variance reads as a signal.
- p10
Meridian
Every scheme held to one copper line, measured against a locked baseline.
- p22
Section
from p6 — the drawing stops being a plate on a page and becomes the page; three magnifications of one section, prose set into its negative space
- p23
Datum
from p10 — one continuous plot running the full height, annotated in the margins; the meridian carries a live reading instead of a station number
- p25
Surface
from p9 — the record as a control surface: tinted fields and small multiples in place of rules, dense and screen-native
- p26
Pitch
from p11 — the ruling made load-bearing, then replaced by colour: every element locked to one modular pitch, no hairline anywhere
- p36
Paper
convergence — the document as a physical thing: falls, is lifted, squared against the books, marked, and answered by a different sheet
- p37
Approach
seed 01 — a long patient opening carrying almost nothing, then incidents arriving progressively closer; the seam moves once, left, at the hinge
- p38
Seam
mineral grey and indigo — two dense ends and a held middle; the line runs horizontally as a change of ground, and the day's arrivals fall from it into one record
- p39
Seam
seed 03 — everything arrives in twos and the page ends on its longest silence; two grounds, and the boundary between them is the line
- p40
Traverse
violet and acid lime — the line steps sideways band by band instead of running down an edge; six documents arrive at once and are taken into one entry
- p41
Poster
seed 01 — the scale page: five lines of Anton at 222px, hard black and bone, red as the pencil of whoever checks the package
- p42
Datum
seed 02 — Fraunces at 300 on bone, no vertical rule anywhere; a datum every label stops on and every heading starts from
- p43
Binding
seed 03 — Spectral kept, Space Grotesk dropped; one binding line painted by each band's own ground, twelve identical junctions
- p44
The Package
seed 04 — the draw package is the page: sheets punched onto a binding, prose annotating from the margin, the rule crossing once at the end
- p45
Round Trip
seed 05 — it leaves the building and comes back: out along one edge, one turn, back along the other, with a lender's query landing on a cost code
- p46
Quiet Tail
from p41 — poster kept at full scale, the clause hung small off a full-measure rule; one product crop remapped onto the page's own bone-to-ink axis
- p47
Fitted
from p41 — three lines chosen by measuring Anton's advances, the only break that justifies; a bone plate reads across the headline once
- p48
The Whole Package
from p41 — the clause leaves the stack entirely; the drawing becomes a six-part package at 1:1, footing in both directions
- p49
Both Legs
from p45 — the return rebalanced to equal weight and given its own loud moment in the lender's voice, not the company's
- p50
Two Exhibits
from p45 — a real document list where the package leaves and a real cost report where it lands, both windowed and reduced to the page's two inks
- p51
Acts
p47's fitted hero, p48's package, p46's specimen — restructured on the reference's principles: grounds as chapter breaks, a chapter index that rides with you, and a second exhibit drawing how the work moves
- p52
Technical Note
the reference read faithfully — bone throughout, no poster, nine acts and twenty steps, eleven small printed figures, chapter breaks carried by air alone
- p53
Note, Bold
the reference's information architecture in this project's voice — bone as ground and ink as punctuation at 9.6% of the page, Anton once at 98px, the draw package decomposed into six small views
- p54
One Screen, One Thing
the poster hero and p53's rail, paced to the reference — every band exactly 900px so a window and a unit are the same object; 51 words on an average screen
- p55
Filled
p54 re-paced to the reference's geometry — 46 percent figure, 40 percent copy, hard to both edges, alternating sides, air between units instead of inside them
- p56
At 768
p55 rebuilt for the width the client actually reviews at — nav and small type raised off the floor, figures redrawn legible at 768, illustration leading, units snapping into view
